First I want to give thanks to God, pastors and everyone attending. I was asked to share my belief and my job as a police officer. On Jan. 7th of 2024, I was helping a Detention Officer escort an inmate down to the basement. During the transport the inmate tried lunging forward and tried to hit his head on the concrete floor.
I stopped the inmate from hitting his face on the ground and ended up tearing my rotator cuff in four spots and tore the bicep muscle. I had to have surgery and had blood work done. After that I found out I had stage 3 prostate cancer that had spread. I tell everyone this story because God has a way of slowing you down when you are running hard.
I had been working a lot of overtime, sometimes working 18-hour shifts. When I think about the situation, God put me in contact with this inmate who essentially saved, my life. If I would have waited and gotten my checkup at 50 years of age it would have been too late. I'm glad God spared me and healed my body.
I thank God every day for letting me see another day. I tell all my friends never take any day for granted because it could be your last. Thank you for listening to my story.
May God bless you and your families.
